Current World of Outlaws American National Champion Jason Meyers has reached an agreement with Tyrepower Sydney Speedway for five appearances at the venue next season.

Tyrepower Sydney Speedway General Manager David Lander spoke with Meyers earlier this week and finalised a deal to secure his services for the major shows at the high time of the season.
NSW Sprintcar driver and team owner Steve Caunt also played a significant role in negotiations and is presently in the US working on Meyers’ crew.
Caunt initiated Meyers’ latest Down Under visit. The tour is backed and supported through Steve Caunt’s Fire Service Plus company. The importance of the Meyers campaign cannot be underestimated and the capital expenditure from Caunt is considerable as he is importing four Meyers cars from the Elite Racing USA workshop especially for the visit.
The Jason Meyers-Elite Racing team visit is brought to the Australian fans by Caunt’s Fire Service Plus organisation.
Meyers, from Clovis, California, will make his 2011/2012 season debut on December 26, Boxing Night, which will feature the running of the annual Valvoline Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix.
Meyers, who currently leads the World of Outlaws championship chase, has also been booked for appearances at Tyrepower Sydney Speedway on January 1, 7, 13 and 14. His final commitment will be for the two-night Scott Darley Sprintcar Challenge (January 13 and 14).
“I am very pleased Jason accepted our offer and I am sure he will put on a great show for the fans. His status in American Sprintcar racing is well known and again he is having a great season in the US,” Lander said.
Meyers, who owns 48 World of Outlaws career main event wins, picked up his first victory of the 2011 WoO season on July 8 when he took out the feature at Cedar Lake Speedway, New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Meyers is locked in an intense battle in defence of his Outlaws title, with less than 50 points between the top four in the current standings.
Despite having posted only one victory (at this writing) on the 2011 World of Outlaws championship trail, it’s Meyers’ overall consistency that took him to the top of the standings. He has posted 16 top five and 24 top ten feature race results in yet another outstanding season.
Thirty-two year old Meyers is no stranger to Australian Sprintcar racing – and Tyrepower Sydney Speedway.
He made several visits as part of the now-defunct Outlaws Down Under promotion conducted by previous owners of the venue. Meyers also drove for NSW car owner Harry Delamont, utilising the race equipment he had previously sold to Delamont from earlier visits.
