Transponder and Radio Communication Policy

Any participant nominating to compete at events staged at Sydney Speedway MUST have his/her own MYLAPS (formerly AMB) transponder system fitted in the standard position and have a working RACEceiver one way communication device

1. MYLAPS (Formerly AMB) Transponders

Every competitor at Sydney Speedway (excluding Fender Benders) is required to supply his/her own transponder to be used with the tracks timing system. It must be a MYLAPS transponder (red in colour – please note yellow AMB transponders are not compatible) and fitted in the standard transponder position for your division of racing. The transponders work in combination with the timing system installed on the track at the start/finish line and will be used to record lap time and lap counts during the events.

The transponders can be owned by the competitor or rented on a nightly basis. It is the competitors’ responsibility to ensure they have a working, compatible transponder before nominating for an event at Sydney Speedway. Competitors will be required to provide the serial number of their transponders when nominating for an event at Sydney Speedway.

There are two types of compatible MYLAPS transponders, rechargeable or direct power:

MYLAPS Car/Bike Rechargeable Power Transponder

The MYLAPS Car/Bike Rechargeable Power Transponder comes with a charger and provides the best solution if you do not use a 12V battery or switch cars often. After each full charge, it has an operational time of 5 days. Please note additional accessories may be required such as a holder and clip or charging cradle.

Where can I rent a MYLAPS Transponder?

Transponders can be hired from Sydney Speedway’s official timing supplier, Eldee Timing Solutions. Cost to hire the transponders per night is $20.00 per event (incl. GST). Competitors hire the transponders at their own risk and are responsible for any loss or damage associated with the transponder hire. A valid credit card will be required to be supplied to secure the transponder hire and will only be charged if the transponder is not returned in full working order.

1. RACEceiver One Way Communicators

The RACEceiver Elite 1600 has been mandated at speedway tracks all over Australia. This small communication device has revolutionised the industry, making the sport safer for both the drivers and officials. It saves time by allowing officials to talk to all the drivers at the same time and lets you get on with racing. It also allows Sydney Speedway officials to warn drivers about accidents or debris on the track.

The RACEceiver Elite 1600 one way communication device is mandatory for all competitors racing at Sydney Speedway. You will not be allowed on the track without a working RACEceiver Elite 1600 at any event during the 2010/2011 season. It is the competitors’ responsibility to ensure they have a working RACEceiver Elite 1600 before nominating for an event at Sydney Speedway.

Where can I buy a RACEceiver Elite 1600?

NASR (National Association of Speedway Racing) has available at the special rate of $160 each (including GST and postage to non-remote areas), exclusive to NASR Licence Holders, the RACEceiver Elite 1600 Rookie Driver Kits. The kits include an Elite 1600 RACEceiver and Rookie earbuds.
